We’ve been involved with York’s SightSonic Festival for years… and years. This is screen grab from the 2004 website which was designed in a retro mid-90’s style influenced by Gary’s time at The Designers Republic.  There is, a touch of craziness about the site that we wouldn’t even consider for anything other than SightSonic.

Coded:Language from LazenbyBrown on Vimeo.

This is a live recording of the first Coded:Language performance. It took place at York Theatre Royal and was commissioned as part of SightSonic 2004, York’s Annual Festival of Digital Arts.

Coded:Language are… Rommi Smith, Ed Heaton, Mat Lazenby and Si McGrath.

Big thanks to Edward Torsney for his work on this piece.

Perception Records is the brainchild of Leeds based beat makers, Dopekick and Era.

Approach.
After listening to, and being influenced by the first album to be released on the label, an identity was born that centered around the central icon, a figure of a man built from vinyl.

Result.
The new identity and album covers led to a strong launch for the record label that is going from strength to strength.

bar_38

Mat started working with the Bar 38 chain back in 1999 during his time at The Morrice Partnership, whilst working on the project he developed some great print work for them including the worlds first ‘dishwasher proof’ menu. Made entirely from synthetic papers and polypropolene it was robust enough to be washed with the bar glasses at the end of the night and… hey presto – new menus in the morning!
