Herbert Harrowell founded his original practice in York over 100 years ago. Since then Harrowells has grown into a major regional law firm.

Approach.
We have been working with Harrowells Solicitors for the past five years on a variety of graphic design projects including web design, advertising and publications. When they approached us to develop a new identity to see the firm through its next century we jumped at the chance, over a period of 5 months we consulted heavily with the partners of the firm and carried out research into the changing face of the legal sector.

Result.
We created a new brand identity which has been developed into physical signage, a new suite of literature and more recently, a new website.

What they said.
“LazenbyBrown have provided branding and design support to Harrowells over the last five years. We like them because they are responsive and practical when dealing with the smaller scale requests, for example leaflet or advert artwork, but also have the vision and expertise to help with more strategic briefs like planning major exhibitions, product launches or – in our case – a complete rebranding of the business.”  Peter Mills, Marketing Manager, Harrowells Solicitors

FoneRent is the world leader in mobile phone and wireless connectivity for short term requirements. Pretty impressive eh?

Approach.
When the CMO & Head of Global Sales and COO at one of our existing clients decided to start a competitor company we were keen to be on board in developing the new brand from the ground up. The main brand contact point was online so the website structure, e-commerce solution, design and functionality aspects were considered at length and thoroughly tested

What they said.
“In selecting a Company to design and deliver our e-commerce solution it was imperative we selected someone that understood our business and it’s goals, but more importantly our client base. Not only did LazenbyBrown take time to assess our precise requirements, they were proactive in suggesting enhancements on our website to maximise the Internet as a business tool. They exceeded our expectations in all areas of the project and achieved the brief in full. Ultimately LazenbyBrown created a web presence for FoneRent that is now an integral part of our strategy and LazenbyBrown a trusted business partner”.

HamiltonCaine are a UK based executive search and recruitment group, they approached us for a total brand refresh that included a new identity, brochure, stationery, website and support material.

Approach.
After exploring many alternative design ideas we arrived at what you see above – and we still hold this project close to our hearts! After developing the design styling we sourced a rare Fedrigoni paper stock for the stationery and brochure and the printed material was run twice through the press to achieve faultless depth and richness in the colour. This was complimented with a crisp clean emboss of the HamiltonCaine logo on the brochure cover.

Result.
The final suite of material positioned HamiltonCaine so that they could be more effective in engaging with their discerning clients. The project proved that, in the right circumstances, nothing can be more engaging and tactile than high end printed material to purvey an aura of quality.

Lazy Lounge is a great bar in Leeds that has a serious passion for wine.

Approach.
We have been working with Kristian and Nic from Lazy Lounge for the past 7 years. We have seen what was a dream idea of them running the sort of bar they’d love to visit turn slowly but surely into a reality. We have been involved with every conceivable part of the design and brand planning for the venture, from naming and theming to brand creation and the development of all the printed material – we even developed the music policy!

Result.
Lazy Lounge has been embraced by the discerning drinkers of Leeds as a haven for their favourite tipple. We are proud to have played such a vital role in its development.

During our year as Creative Fellows we developed a relationship with the faculty built on mutual trust and respect for each others creative input, the magazine is a real credit to the staff and students and the trust they placed in us as designers.

Result.
We’re dead proud of Neutral for a few reasons:

1) The content from the magazine is 90% student submitted work
2) It celebrates and promotes that work in a thought provoking manner

SES - A Thinking Business

When SES contacted us in 2008 they had a suite of marketing material and literature that had worked very, very well for a good number of years. However, the SES marketing team were interested in what could be done to freshen things up so they asked us to take a look at a restyling of the brand identity… and we naturally set to work.

Approach.
We developed a grid system which is the starting point of all SES design and ties the full range of printed material together in an unmistakable style. This was complimented by a range of Helvetica with design styling that has roots in the Swiss Typographical Movement. We then formally presented our ideas to the Marketing team and shared our vision for the identity with them. It’s fair to say Francesca (SES Marketing Manager) and her team were quite happy!

Result.
Some of our most enjoyable work over the past few years has been with the hard-working SES Marketing team and we’ve built a strong, open and honest relationship with them. Since our initial presentation SES have kept us very busy, and holistic and consistent design styling now ties all of their printed material together. With a steady stream of brochures and newsletters planned for the future the identity and effectiveness of the marketing literature will only get stronger.

Ribblesdale Cheese is a multi-award winning dairy and Goat Farm nestled in a particularly beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales. Their products are stocked throughout Yorkshire as well as gracing the shelves of Fortnum & Mason and Harrods.

Approach.
We were approached by the owner of Ribblesdale Cheese; Iona Hill following a series of business development sessions she undertook with Business Link, once the business plan had been developed they suggested she got in touch with us to usher in a new era for the historic dairy and goat farm.

Result.
We developed a strategy and brand identity that celebrated the dairies unique history and geographic location. This new identity was a catalyst for a new sense of confidence and direction for the business. Following the development of the literature we have plans for an online shop, new packaging and maybe even a cook book!

Approach.
In the first year of our contract with Humberside Police we were asked to tackle one of their most contentious issues; Anti Social Behaviour. We turned the tables a little and aimed the campaign at the older generation and questioned their labeling of young people. We planned the campaign phases, the first saw us put up the posters in traditional settings, Bus Internals, Bus Stops, Shopping Centres. The second phase was to ‘vandalise’ the original posters with stickers advertising a hand-written MySpace address for a site called ‘StreetSpy’ – the forerunner to ‘Not Just Noise’, these sites are intended to promote positive messages about young people in the Humberside region.

Result.
The project was followed up by a community consultation in the effected areas and those that saw the poster were said to genuinely rethink their stereotypical views of young people. The take up of the StreetSpy site promoted via the stickers was also a great success with lots of young people signing up and sharing views and opinions online.

Approach.
We were approached by Fiona and Sarah from Elevate Communications who were commissioned by Timothy Taylor to re-develop the Lord Rodney, the brief was to change it from a down in the dumps Keighley boozer to a chic, ‘gastro pub’ that would become a destination in it’s own right.

Result.
We developed the branding, signage and promotional literature for this project. The positioning statement for the new branding is ‘Drinking, Dining, Distraction’ and the pub has certainly developed a reputation for all three in the local area.

The Dean Court is a key hotel in York occupying an enviable position in the shadow of York Minster.

Approach.
We’ve been working with David Brooks at the Dean Court Hotel for quite a few years now and have seen the building develop into a contemporary hotel with a fine sense of tradition – with a twist. David brought us in to develop the literature for the hotel to attract a younger, professional audience.

Result.
The development of new rooms in the hotel and our new brochure has seen a great rise in bookings and longer stays from young professional couples visiting our fine city.
