Mat has had the opportunity to work with the Theakston family over the past ten years in previous design roles, on a wide variety of brand development and sales promotion projects, more recently in collaboration with the drinks marketing specialists 100% proof. We have a great affection for the brand and also their cracking beers, especially the legendary ‘Old Peculier’.

Approach.
Working with brands we love shows in our work – we approached the Theakston’s project with a deep understanding of the target market, and and an understanding that there is an important role for authenticity and heritage to play in a contemporary market place.

Result.
Following the family buy out of the brewery from Scottish & Newcastle and the reinstatement of the original beer recipes we were part of the team that communicated this good news to the customer base.

What they said.
“We are a traditional family owned business who needs great creative support to keep us fresh in the market, LazenbyBrown give us that support” Simon Theakston  |  Director  |  T & R Theakston

As a well respected and recognised Practice since 1960, Derrick Kershaw Partnership has comprehensive experience in all sectors of Construction.

Approach.
We worked with Business Link Advisors and DKP to develop a fresh contemporary identity. The creative process was both thorough and well considered before the final designs were agreed, as the history and heritage of the business had to be considered carefully before DKP took the bold step of launching a new identity.

Result.
The launch of the identity and supporting material led to a refreshed positive perception of the DKP brand in the market and allowed the brand to stand apart from competition. A suite of material was developed including website, case studies, e-newsletter and stationery.

We were approached by Connexions to help develop a new way for young people to engage and utilise their estate of offices and buildings around the Yorkshire region. The staff at the centres were concerned that young people found the spaces intimidating and not engaging.

Approach.
Over 6 months we convened a working group made up of young people from the Skipton area, as well as staff and youth workers. The young people led the process and with them we developed a new name and identity for the Connexions Centre in Skipton.

Result.
We devised the entire interior design scheme which included lighting, bespoke furniture and flooring, and project managed the installation of the complete re-fit. We were also lucky enough to call upon an old friend and collaborate with the artist Keith Hopewell (Part2) on the project… we even dj’d for Zero Gravity Crew at the launch party!

‘Small is Beautiful’ is a small-press literary fair aimed at micro publishers from all over the UK. Developed by Kirklees Council, it’s a great example of the support that needs to be given to develop the next phase of publishing across the country.

Approach.
The design styling of this event needed to connect with the literary audience in a memorable and quirky way using a blend of printed and online media.

Result.
We created a new identity and event materials for this popular event that helped galvanise its reputation as key date in the publishing calendar.

Keith Hopewell is an unfeasibly talented human being, one of Europe’s most respected graffiti artists, a string of world-wide gallery shows, he is also a producer signed to the Ninja Tune imprint; Big Dada records.

Approach.
We’ve worked with Keith on a wide variety of projects, shown above are 2 record sleeves, both of which found themselves in the top 100 most influential records in the recent ‘HomeGrown’ Exhibition at the Urbis Gallery in Manchester. Also shown above are a pair of recycled card iPod covers we were developing as a cover giveaway for Creative Review – sadly our contact left the magazine and the concept got shelved.

Result.
There’s never a dull project with Keith, we’re proud to work with him and are pleased he is starting to gather mainstream gallery acclaim for is genre-defying art.

More of Keith’s work here.

Approach.
Homes etc. are all about creating the perfect, luxury home. They have a string of impressive barn conversions under their belt and are now branching out into fixtures, fittings and solid wood floors. We have been instrumental in developing their entire corporate appearance.

Result.
The logo shown above is the first of 3 identities we developed to brand the different trading arms of the business. They all work independently, and together when selling a whole package of products and services.
