To mark the election on the 6th May we’ve cobbled together our top politically inspired songs, which we feel best sum up the mood of the country right now.

Zebedee Scaping, Former Headmaster at Hull Trinity School with a class studying astronomy, 1873.
We were recently commissioned by Creative Partnerships to develop and oversee an enterprise competition for a whole year group of Year 7 pupils at Hull Trinity School. The school is very proud of its history and traditions and they have a great school motto ‘Spes Super Sydera’ (Hope beyond the Stars)
The pupils were asked to develop an entirely new concept for a game and, working in teams, had to develop the concept up to a final ‘presentation’ stage.
We worked at the school for a number of days and passed on thoughts on how we might approach the project in our day to day design practice, we covered brain storming, mind mapping, evaluation, branding, prototyping, merchandising, marketing and presentation skills.
We were impressed with the quality of the final presentations and the originality of the ideas. Three concepts that stick in my mind were; An iPhone App that ‘made’ other Apps, basically an interface that coded pre-set options for everything from adventure games to cooking apps. A giant floating foam chess game that you can play on the sea! Finally, a series of board games inspired by well known computer games that allow families to play together (the pupils had realised parents are increasingly worried about solitary time spent in front of a tv screen!)
As well as being blown away by the ideas we were also impressed with the school setting and ethos, a new National Curriculum directive named PLTS (Personal Learning Thinking Skills) is being used in the school to effectively deliver ‘Creative Thinking’ lessons.

Anyone who’s been to our studio knows we’re pretty keen on collecting dusty old vinyl. I just bought this slab of Northern Soul to add to the collection and spin in my next DJ set.

Our ‘Music Monday’ playlist today is inspired by ‘Late Night Tales’ a series of laid back, downbeat compilations from diverse artists such as The Cinematic Orchestra, Belle and Sebastien and Air. Follow us on Twitter for more Music Monday playlists.

We are really enjoying developing the brand strategy for The Orange Dove Foundation. Its motoring along nicely – today we had a meeting to discuss and plan the visitor journey through the website and to finalise the colour palette for the site and overall identity. This has to be the quickest brand we’ve ever developed – through making our meetings count.
